After a micro-hiatus, allowing DPR staff to have a much deserved break and bionic new knee, we're chomping at the bit to get the music back under way. And man, have we got a whole heap of good stuff to throw at you!
Death Proof's very own poster boy, Ettica, has been making massive strides of late with his work, seeing some appear on other labels in the shape of original work and remixes. But, without trying to sound too pig-headed, we think he's saved the best for DPR!
Ettica's 'Bomb The Opera' is an unadulterated masterpiece: summer vibes shine through on this one with quite possibly the cheekiest sample to date! With the clever use of an operatic vocal, he's slammed out a chunky, bass-heavy house number, with clinical production work through-out; this is begging to be played to the masses! On the flip sees yet another summer season slammer with 'Dont Wait'. This one is all about the emotive brass and glistening pads; we think the best way to explain this one would be like Groove Armada walking into the burgeoning Bristol camp and concocting something thoroughly enigmatic! Goose bump enducing tech-house! Watch out for the breakdown!
On the remix tip we have some firm and recent favourites of ours.
Brazilian beat-smith Kleber [Italo Business/Baptism], provides a fluid yet tribalesque piece of techno.
Mexican Jnks [Circuit Freq] comes up from the darker realms with a frenetic big-room, fist pumping slice of techno.
And fellow DPR artist, Anthony James, does the original justice and sees out the EP fantasticly with a sublime tech-house ditty: warm bass under a click, pop and snap drumline, and great use of the vocal sees the cherry sit perfectly on top!
It's good to be back!!
Keep it Death Proof!
